The universe or the brain? Both have much in common.

The hippocampus is a key region of the brain that plays an important role in various cognitive functions, especially those related to learning and memory. The hippocampus is essential for the formation of memory and the formation of new memories, which is crucial for learning and remembering facts. It is involved in spatial navigation, plays a role in the regulation of emotions, but it is also one of the areas of the brain where neurogenesis - the formation of new neurons - takes place even in adulthood. In Alzheimer's disease, the hippocampus is among the first areas of the brain to suffer from damage.

With the help of fluorescence microscopy and the specific labelling of various structures in the tissue, here neurons (green), newly formed neurons (bright red) and nuclei of other cells (blue), we can observe and describe the pathological features of various diseases, but also the effects of substances that could be used as potential drugs.
